Alberta has a rich history, from the first European, Anthony Henday, arriving in 1754 to a major oil discovery in Leduc in 1947 that changed its destiny forever.

This week in Alberta history saw the collapse of the Calgary-based Northland Bank in 1985 and Imperial Oil announcing it would move its head office to Calgary from Toronto in 2004, affecting 1,500 employees.
