Canadian Forces says Helene Bouchard, a civilian at 3rd Canadian Division Support Base Edmonton, has been charged with four counts of trafficking of a controlled substance.
Bouchard was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Edmonton on Nov. 6.
The charges were laid after an investigation by the Canadian Forces National Investigation Service National Drug Enforcement Team into illegal steroid trafficking.
Lt.-Col. Brian Frei, commanding officer of the team, said in a release that the charges send a clear message that illicit drug use will not be tolerated in the Department of National Defence.
The drug enforcement team is a specialized unit within the independent Canadian Forces Military Police Group and its mandate is to investigate serious and sensitive matters relating to Canadian Armed Forces personnel anywhere in the world, and offences that occur in, on or about defence establishments.
