Toronto police are offering $50,000 for information that will help them identify a suspect linked to two sexual assaults — one that happened in Toronto in 1992 and another in Vancouver in 1985.

Using forensic DNA technology, investigators were able to link the two cases to the same man.

Police say that in the Vancouver case, a 34-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in a multilevel garage on West Pender Street in Vancouver on May 3, 1985.

It's alleged the man approached the woman at around 2:20 p.m., showed a weapon and then sexually assaulted and robbed her.

The same man was linked to another assault on June 20, 1992, in Toronto. YongeBalliol man followed her into her apartment building and into the elevator. He revealed a handgun, then forced the woman into a stairwell and sexually assaulted her at gunpoint.
