REGINA - Saskatchewan teachers and the province have reached a tentative contract.
The Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation, representing more than 12,000 teachers, and the government bargaining committee confirm a deal has been reached.
However, both sides say they've agreed that no details about the agreement will be released right now and it still needs to be ratified.
The Regina Leader-Post is reporting that the proposed deal would give teachers a 5.5 per cent raise over four years.
Compared to negotiations for the previous contract, this deal was reached quickly and quietly.
Teachers went without a contract for about a year before the previous agreement in 2011 and they held three strike days.
