Liberals:
— Allow private renewable energy producers to sell electricity directly to consumers in what they say would break Nova Scotia Power's monopoly.
— Reduce the number of health boards from 10 to two.
— Reduce departmental spending except for Health and Education by one per cent annually.
— Cap classroom sizes to 20 for Primary to Grade 2 and 25 for Grades 3 to 6.
— Reduce the HST, but only if the province reaches a surplus that would offset the loss of revenue from the tax cut.
Total cost of election platform: $46.7 million annually over three years.

NDP:
— Balance the budget.
— Reduce the HST from 15 per cent to 13 per cent over the next two years.
— Remove the HST from family purchases such as strollers and car seats.
— Open 350 new long-term care beds and replace 700 existing beds for seniors.
— Open four new community health clinics in underserved areas of the province.
Total cost of election platform: Not more than $34.4 million annually.

Progressive Conservatives:
— Balance the budget.
— Freeze power rates for five years, beginning in January 2014.
— Reduce the HST from 15 per cent to 13 per cent.
— Reduce the number of health boards from 10 to three.
— Reduce the number of school boards from eight to four.
Total cost of election platform: $47.8 million in first full year.
