Twitter is a key part of an Ottawa journalist's day-to-day work. It's probably the best place to throw out your random quips about the absurdities that happen every day in the nation's capital.

So who are the most important politicians and journalists on Twitter? PR firm Hill and Knowlton took a look at which journalists and political figures were being followed by the 308 MPs in Ottawa and came up with this list. HuffPost Canada's Althia Raj is right there in 11th place, tied with the Twitter account for CPAC and just a hair below Minister Tony Clement.

Who's at the top of the list? Sun Media's national bureau chief David Akin, who is followed by 58.7% of MPs. That's higher than the Prime Minister who's in the second slot with 56.7%. Kady O' Malley, one of the most active twitter users in Ottawa's political scene, is third.
