Council to make final decision on Ward 3 today

Toronto city council will decide today on who will fill the Ward 3 council seat vacated by Doug Holyday.

A total of 45 people ran for the job and former provincial cabinet minister Chris Stockwell was the preferred choice of Etobicoke community council when they met last week. But that decision isn't binding on council and the candidates will undergo what amounts to a ratification vote by council today.

Holyday left council for Queen's Park when he won a provincial by-election in August.

Holyday has said he’d prefer that Etobicoke businessman Peter Leon fill the seat until next fall’s municipal election.
