Opening Of $350-Million MLA Office Building Delayed

EDMONTON - Renovations on the former federal building set to house offices for MLAs and government staff at the legislature won't be completed until fall 2014 -- three years later than the province's original projections.

The $350-million project on the northeast corner of the legislature grounds in Edmonton has been fraught with delays and unanticipated costs since it was announced in 2009. Critics have blasted the government's wisdom in continuing with the work even as infrastructure throughout the province faces increased pressures because of a ballooning population.
