Turns out Drake is not just emotional in his music. After having his feelings hurt by rapper Future, the (former) opening act for Drake's 39-city tour, the Canadian rapper reportedly kicked him off. Future will reportedly respond by suing Drizzy for $1.5 million in lost wages.
It all started with Future doing an interview with Billboard magazine about his upcoming album "Honest."
Seems as though Future got a little too "honest", and when his record was compared to Drake's "Nothing Was The Same" he reportedly responded: "'Honest' isn't only about love, but about showing emotion. Drake made an album that is full of hits but it doesn't grab you. They're not possessive; they don't make you feel the way I do. I want to make you want to fall in love."
Billboard has since removed the quote from the interview, though Billboard editor Erika Ramirez did not delete her tweet about it.
Future, meanwhile, claims he was misquoted.
But according to Page Six, it wasn't so much that he was misquoted, but that "Future’s horrified managers argued with the mag that his quotes were off the record and taken out of context." Drake then reportedly demanded his agent fire Future or fire himself.
Subsequent negotiations to get Future back on the bill, reportedly at a lower than $40,000 per show rate, collapsed over the weekend leading to Future's planned $1.5 million lawsuit.
But as Complex points out, this may have been the last straw considering Future also controversially claimed he came up with the concept of "Started From The Bottom" and gave it to Drake.
Source.com reports that Jhene Aiko, who sings on the "Nothing Was The Same" song "From Time," will be Future's replacement for Drake's "Would You Like A Tour?"
The tour kicks off in Pittsburgh this Friday, hits Montreal on Oct. 21, Ottawa on Oct 22, Toronto on Oct. 24, Vancouver on Nov. 28, Calgary on Nov 30 and Edmonton on Dec 1.
