Tarek Loubani Shares Inspiring Torture Story (VIDEO)

WATCH: Freed Canadian Shares Bloody, But Inspiring Torture Story

Canadians Tarek Loubani and John Greyson endured a harrowing ordeal during their imprisonment in Egypt, and now they're sharing more of the bloody, but inspiring, details.

Appearing On "George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight," Loubani and Greyson say they were beaten by their jailers but managed to remain defiant.

Greyson: "There was this one great moment where we're being interrogated. We'd been separated. Tarek comes back and he's got a bloody nose 'cause he's been whacked and I watched him as he leans slowly forward with his dripping nose to ensure that his blood is dripping onto the interrogating officer's shoe. And he boasted about it later at great length."

Loubani: "The bastard broke my nose. The context of that is that at that moment they have complete domination of your body. And we knew that. And they knew that. But what I wanted to be indomitable was my spirit. And so the context of the hit is that the guy says to me, 'I'm going to wipe that smile off your face by the end of the night.' And I said, 'I doubt it.' And then he smoked me in the face breaking my nose. And I was still smiling."

Whatever you think about the pair's politics, you have to admire their spirit.

"George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight" airs weeknights at 7 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on CBC Television. You can follow George on the web, Twitter and Facebook.
