Markham man charged after police seize $100K worth of pot

A Markham man faces several drug-related charges after police say they seized $100,000 worth of marijuana from a vehicle and a property in cottage country.

The OPP’s Haliburton Highlands Detachment reports finding "a large quantity of marijuana" in a vehicle after a traffic stop on Saturday.

A day later, police searched a home on Loon Lake Road in Haliburton and seized 70 marijuana plants.

A 56-year-old man from Markham now faces charges of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, production of a controlled substance and possession of proceeds of crime.

The accused is due to appear in a Minden, Ont., court on Thursday.
