SHERWOOD PARK, - Three people have been injured after a collision sent a taxi van through glass windows and into the lobby of a large recreational facility in Sherwood Park, Alta.

Strathcona County RCMP say a 41-year-old man who had been standing in the lobby of Millennium Place and the driver of the taxi were taken to hospital in serious condition.

RCMP say the taxi and an SUV collided in the parking lot of the recreation centre.

They say that after the initial collision, the taxi appeared to gain speed and crashed through the southeast entrance of the building.

The female driver of the SUV was also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

RCMP say it appears the driver of the taxi may have had a medical incident prior to the collision.
