Suspect arrested in Laval hit-and-run

A suspect has been arrested in Monday's hit-and-run in Laval that left a 75-year-old man dead and sent his 73-year-old wife to hospital.

The couple was walking through the parking lot of a McDonald's restaurant on Boulevard des Laurentides when a black SUV exiting the drive-thru hit them and drove off.

Sgt. Frédéric Jean of the Laval police said that after studying the crime scene, interviewing several witnesses and reviewing security tape footage, an arrest was made this morning.

"This morning at around 8:30 a.m. a scheduled operation was conducted by the Laval police service that led to the arrest of a man, a resident of Vimont, a man in his mid-30s that was driving a vehicle that corresponded with the one described yesterday," Jean said.

The man died in hospital, while the woman was treated for minor injuries and shock.
