VANCOUVER - The police in Vancouver say they've arrested a man they describe as a high-risk sex offender who failed to return to his halfway house.
A news release says 44-year-old Gerald Richard McLean has been living in a halfway house after completing a two-year sentence for sexually assaulting a young child.
He failed to return to his halfway house, prompting police to obtain a Canada-wide arrest warrant.
The force says a member of the public reported seeing him, prompting officers to head to the scene and arrest him.
Police say McLean, who also has a previous conviction for sexually assaulting a teen girl, is considered a high risk to re-offend.
