Kamloops RCMP took a call at 8:46 a.m. PT, and were told that three masked men, who were armed with shotguns, entered a home in the 1500 block of Collingwood Drive.
Police used a loudspeaker in an attempt to contact the occupants of the single-family rental and get them to exit the home, but no one responded.
When officers entered, with police dogs at their side, they found two men and two women, unharmed. The four tenants denied that there had been any disturbance.
"These occupants claimed to have no knowledge of any armed persons entering the residence," Kamloops RCMP Sgt. Edward Preto said in a written statement.
"This incident is believed to be a targeted event and the investigation [into] the matter is continuing," he said.
Kamloops RCMP said both the residence and the person who made the call about the armed, masked men are known to police.
