Alberta Snowstorm Warning: Heavy Snowfall Expected (PHOTOS)

Another snowy weekend is in the forecast for Alberta, with up to 25 centimetres of snow expected in certain parts of central and southern Alberta.

Highway 2 from Red Deer to Didsbury has reduced visibility and slippery conditions, and RCMP say unnecessary travel should be avoided.

Snow started falling in parts of Alberta on Saturday morning, brought in by a low-pressure system from British Columbia moving into Alberta, with snow expected to continue into Sunday, according to Environment Canada.

Calgary police responded to 20 crashes on Saturday morning, with one of them resulting in injury, 660News reports.

The heaviest snow is expected to stay south of the Yellowhead Highway for the Edson, Spruce Grove and Fort Saskatchewan regions and is expected to taper off Sunday as it moves into Saskatchewan.

  • Lloydminster - Wainwright - Vermilion - ProvostNordegg - Forestry Trunk Road Highway 734
  • Red Deer - Ponoka - Innisfail - Stettler
  • Rocky Mountain House - Caroline
  • Spruce Grove - Morinville - Mayerthorpe - Evansburg
