American Tucker Fredricks wins 500 metres in World Cup event in Calgary

CALGARY - America's Tucker Fredricks won the men's 500 metres Sunday in a World Cup speedskating event at the Olympic Oval, beating world and Olympic champion Mo Tae-bum of South Korea.

Fedricks finished in 34.46 seconds. Mo followed in 34.47.

America's Heather Richardson took the women's 1,000 in 1:13.23, beating the Netherlands' Lotte van Beek by 0.13.

The Netherland's Sven Kramer won the 5,000 in 6:04.46. The Netherlands also won the women's team pursuit, with van Beek teaming with Ireen Wust and Linda de Vries.
