Man threatened woman with shovel during car dispute, police say

A U.S. man is accused of threatening a Barrie, Ont., woman with a shovel, during an apparent domestic dispute that police say centred around the use of her car.

Police say that the 27-year-old man had recently begun living with a woman in Barrie, Ont.

On Saturday, police say that the two got into an argument as the man wanted to use the woman’s car to go to Toronto. That’s when police say the man threatened her with a shovel.

The woman called police, reporting an alleged assault, threats and a vehicle theft.

Police soon issued a warrant for the man’s arrest. He was found in Toronto hours later.

The man was brought back to Barrie for a bail hearing, which he was granted with conditions.

The accused faces charges of assault, uttering threats and taking an automobile without consent.
