Man dies after being Tasered by Montreal police

An altercation with Montreal police ended in a death last night.

Monday evening, police received a call at about 5:30 p.m. about a possible drug overdose at a Montreal rooming house near the corner of St-André and Ontario streets.

Police said when they arrived a man, who appeared to be intoxicated, attacked an officer and knocked his tooth out.

Several officers were injured while trying to restrain the man.

Officers said they tried to use their batons and pepper spray before resorting to a Taser.

The man was rushed to hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead.

The woman who was suffering from an overdose was also rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Quebec provincial police are investigating.
