Lululemon 'Second Chance Pant' Still Triggers Complaints

Lululemon 'Celebrates Failure' With 'Second Chance Pant'

Lululemon is in damage control mode after its sheer pants controversy, but the company is still drawing complaints.

Business Insider reports that the yogawear giant is selling its recalled sheer pants as the "Second Chance Pant" with an extra layer along the back and transparent mesh along the sides.

A tag attached to the pants reads, "These pants were inspired by a need to find functional and beautiful design solutions for our sheer pants. This is what celebrating failure looks like!"

The pants retail at $92 US, slightly less than the $98 they sold for before the controversy over its Luon pants erupted, forcing the company to pull them off shelves last March. The pants represented 17 per cent of Lululemon's inventory. Company stock is off 12 per cent this year.

But Lululemon is still fielding complaints. A San Francisco customer wrote on its Facebook page three weeks ago that the Second Chance Pants are still too sheer.

"Please, please, PLEASE make it with better material," Linda Jiayan Zhang wrote. "It's killing me that I have to return it becoz (sic) of the sheerness...."

The company responded, "If you're not stoked on the coverage of your pants, bring them back to a store or call the GEC."

Lululemon's latest endeavour comes after Chip Wilson found himself in hot water over a Bloomberg TV interview in which he said "quite frankly some women's bodies just actually don't work" for the company's pants.

Wilson was pilloried on social media over the comments and later issued a video apology in which he said he was "sad for the repercussions of my actions."
