Pemberton youth facing attempted murder charge

A 16-year-old boy from Pemberton, B.C., is facing an attempted murder charge for allegedly trying to kill another 16-year-old- boy with a hammer, baseball bat and a knife on Saturday morning.

Pemberton RCMP say the victim was able to escape the house on 1400 block of Balsam Street around 11 a.m. PT and reach some bystanders, who called police and treated him with first aid.

The suspect was arrested outside the home. He remains in custody and is expected to appear in court in North Vancouver on Wednesday morning. Police have recommended to Crown prosecutors that he be charged with attempted murder. Because of his age his identity has not been released by police.

The victim was taken to hospital in Pemberton with unspecified injuries, before being transferred to the Lower Mainland and then being released.
