Toddler killed after being struck in parking lot

A toddler has died after he and his mother were struck by a van in a shopping centre parking lot in Pitt Meadows, B.C., on Friday morning

The accident happened around 9:45 a.m. PT in the parking lot of the Meadowtown Center on Lougheed Highway outside a B.C. Liquor Store.

Police said the boy and his mother were rushed to hospital after being struck by a Honda van.

The two-year-old boy has since died, while his mother remains in hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
