Mounties make arrest in B.C. collision that left two pedestrians dead

COQUITLAM, B.C. - Mounties in the Metro Vancouver city of Coquilam, B.C., say they have arrested a man and located a vehicle following a collision that claimed the lives of two pedestrians.

The RCMP say in a news release that a grey truck was making a turn onto a local road Wednesday afternoon when the collision occurred, but the driver did not remain on the scene and fled.

The RCMP say the pedestrians died on the scene from their injuries.

RCMP Sgt. Kathy Dickson says one of the pedestrians was a male and the other was a 66-year-old female.

She says officers have arrested an elderly male and located a vehicle.

Dickson says the four-lane road that's located in a residential and commercial area has been closed for hours.
