Metro Vancouver's Most Dangerous Mall Parking Lots Revealed By ICBC

Vancouver's Most Dangerous Mall Parking Lot Is..

Following the tragic death of a two-year-old Pitt Meadows boy who was hit by a car in a mall parking lot, ICBC has released a report that outlines crashes and injuries at Metro Vancouver's shopping centre lots.

Compiling data from 2008 to 2012, the report looks at 11 of B.C.'s malls.

Burnaby's Metrotown Mall had the highest rate, with 231 people injured within that four-year span. Of the 231, 32 were pedestrians. Park Royal in West Vancouver saw 182 victims injured, and Langley's Willowbrook Mall had 160. Despite Richmond Centre's parking fails like this one, the mall only saw 64 injuries, 15 of which were pedestrians.

“Before they throw their car in reverse and start moving, they really need to look what’s behind them,” Concord Security operations manager James Blight told CTV News. “We also see people texting and driving in parking lots, which is a big no-no.”

Starting with the highest, here are Metro Vancouver's most dangerous mall parking lots, ranked according to number of injuries:
