Jessie McIvor's 'Jessie's Arts': Facebook Gallery By B.C. Down Syndrome Artist Will Warm Your Heart (PHOTOS)

Down Syndrome Artist Shares Big On Facebook

Jessie McIvor is a highly sought-after artist—and she doesn't charge a thing for her work.

The 30-year-old Princeton, B.C. woman with Down Syndrome paints because she loves it. And if others love it too, that's just the icing on the cake.

On Nov. 13, McIvor and her mother Nicki started a Facebook page called Jessie's Arts for the artist to share her work. Just a few weeks later, it already has over 2,500 fans. As it says on the page, every picture is hand drawn by McIvor (no tracing!) from images she finds on Google.

"I want to thank you ALL for making her page here work," Nicki McIvor wrote on the Facebook page. "She truly is so happy and excited and to be honest, it brings a tear to my eye. She really is a good artist and those of you making requests are building her confidence in a HUGE way."

As Global News reports, McIvor doesn't charge for her art—which is being requested by people all over the world—but if someone wishes to make a donation, the money goes right back into fueling her passion.

McIvor's artworks are posted to the Facebook page, and are then mailed to admirers who claim them. Fans can also request specific pictures they'd like the artist to create.

Nicki McIvor recorded a Global News segment on her daughter and uploaded it to YouTube so that supporters everywhere would be able to join in celebrating the artist's new found success.

McIvor also auctioned off some of her work for charity, with proceeds going to the Red Cross to help victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

"We don't see her handicap and she doesn't either," writes Nicki McIvor on the Facebook page. "I'd like you all to know that she is the gentlest, kindest, most understanding person in this whole wide world."
