5 plunged into river in highway rollover near Fernie, B.C.

Five people were taken to hospital following a rollover accident ​on the Crowsnest Highway Sunday afternoon.

The Fernie Fire Department confirmed that at around 2 p.m. PT a vehicle went off Highway 3 about 10 kilometres south of Fernie, and into the Elk River.

The B.C. Ambulance Service confirmed that two of the occupants were taken by air ambulance to Alberta Children's Hospital in critical condition. Three people were taken to a hospital in Fernie; two in stable condition, and one in critical condition
