Lions Gate Bridge closed by head-on collision

Vancouver's Lions Gate Bridge was closed in both directions by a head-on collision just after 8 a.m. PT Tuesday, jamming rush hour traffic.

B.C. Ambulance confirmed two patients were transported to hospital with critical injuries, one to Vancouver General and one to St. Paul's.

Emergency officials are still on the scene clearing the accident. It is not yet clear when the bridge will be reopened to traffic.

Buses that would have crossed the bridge have been dropping passengers at the SeaBus terminals in Vancouver and North Vancouver, creating long lines at both terminals.
