A B.C. teen was so moved by the tragic death of "Fast And Furious" star, Paul Walker, he has organized a tribute car cruise to honour the late actor's memory, with money raised to be donated to Typhoon Haiyan relief.
“I was in shock, as everyone else is," 18-year-old Lorenzo Garcia told Global News. "I had just watched the latest 'Fast and Furious' movie on iTunes.”
Garcia, of Autoform Performance, an independent luxury car dealership in Vancouver, posted details of the cruise—which takes place Dec. 7—to Facebook, noting that Walker was someone who "impacted many of us in the car industry."
By Wednesday afternoon, 582 people had signed up to say they would attend the cruise, which sets off from Richmond's Lansdowne Mall at noon, before heading to Porteau Cove, and back to Autoform Performance's showroom for a screening of the first "Fast And Furious" movie.
Garcia is well-known for his passion for luxury cars. Earlier this year, a photo of his luxury Lamborghini pictured with what was thought to be a wild cat tied to its hood in Yaletown circulated on social media. Garcia responded to criticism by telling Vancity Buzz the cat was bred locally and had not been left alone.
"We had the exotic car there with the cat to advertise for our events company and a local club in Yaletown," Garcia said.
