Laval police arrest man after he rammed a patrol car

A man who Laval police say tried to hit an officer with his car during a roadside spot check was arrested early Friday morning

Const. Franco Di Genova said officers pulled over a car for a spot check around 2:15 a.m. ET Friday on Dussault Avenue in Laval.

Di Genova said that when the officers walked back to the patrol car to check the driver’s information, the driver backed into the police car and then allegedly tried to hit an officer with the vehicle.

One of the officers responded by shooting at the car.

“[He] pulls out his revolver, his pistol, and fires two shots,” Di Genova said.

“The shots were fired at the lower part of the vehicle, and at this point the driver of the vehicle basically took off.”

After searching for the vehicle the driver and two female passengers took off in, police made the arrest shortly after 6 a.m. ET.

The suspect could be facing charges including armed assault.

Police are still looking for the two passengers.
