Abbotsford Police Christmas Card Targets Gangsters (PHOTOS)

Cops Send Gangsters 'Bad Santa' Card

After they sent a Christmas card to known gangsters and drug dealers last year, Abbotsford Police Department drew a little fire for an image showing Chief Bob Rich dressed as Santa in full flak gear, machine gun included.

Undeterred, the cops are mailing cards to their very particular list again this year, but with a nod to last year's critics. This season's greeting is titled "Even Santa Makes Mistakes" and depicts Father Christmas writing out lines on a chalkboard that repeat, "I will not play with guns."

Inside, the message remains the same:

If you are reading this, you are on the list of people APD is asking to make a change in their lives. I know it is pretty likely you have had a much more difficult life than most of us. The hard truth is that nothing can be done about that. It is what it is.

But it is also true that it is never too late to make a different choice about the rest of your life. You can leave crime behind if you are willing to change your life. You can get help to beat an addiction that is taking over your life.

The card ends with a number recipients can call to begin receiving help, and with a quote from Albert Einstein printed on the back:

We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.
