Oshawa man blew more than five times the legal limit

The Ontario Provincial Police says it is thankful for the tip that helped them locate a vehicle that was being driven by an Oshawa man whose blood-alcohol level was allegedly more than five times the legal limit.

Police received calls on Friday about a vehicle moving erratically on Highway 35 in the Township of Minden Hills, which lies nearly 200 kilometres northeast of Toronto.

The vehicle was pulled over, the driver was then arrested and taken to a police station where he underwent a breath test.

Police say he was charged with two impaired driving-related offences, as well as with operating a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor and also with operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

The 28-year-old accused is due to appear in a Minden, Ont., court in January.

The OPP wants to talk to the person who phoned in the tip about the driver. That individual is asked to call Const. Humphries at the Haliburton Highlands detachment at 705-286-1431.
