Manitoba could go into spring flood season with qualified forecaster

WINNIPEG - Manitoba Premier Greg Selinger says the province has not yet been able to find a new head flood forecaster.

Phillip Mutulu left his post in the summer.

Selinger won't say whether the province is prepared to go into the spring flood season without having the job filled.

He says there's an acting forecaster in place, who has experience from the 2011 flood.

He hasn't said who the acting person is and it’s unclear if anyone has applied for the permanent job.

Selinger adds the province has invested a lot of money in updating flood forecasting technology.
