You can imagine how a single person feels during the season of togetherness, but do you know what really through their heads?

According to a recent survey by online dating site Plenty of Fish, single North Americans during the holidays have a lot to think about. Singles think about their New Year's goals, their dating life, and of course, who they want to hook up with.

The survey, conducted with over 9,000 users between the ages of 20 and 40 across the United States and Canada, asked users personal questions about sexting, December breakups and the office holiday party. The survey suggests North Americans singles were pretty quick to make decisions about relationships and felt more promiscuous during the holidays.

When it came to what singles were thinking about, 27 per cent wished they were with someone during the holidays and 4 per cent were worried about work. Singles also thought about sex, money and eating ... just like everyone else.

You may think being single during the holidays is all doom, gloom and lack of hand-holding, but there are many benefits of being single, including buying your own presents, ignoring in-laws and eating whatever you want.

And while the survey suggests singles wanted to be in relationships in general, it uncovered that many people are dealing with plenty of relationship drama at work. Check out all of the highlights here:
