P.E.I. report its first case of influenza

CHARLOTTETOWN - Prince Edward Island's chief public health officer is reporting the Island's first case of influenza for the 2013-14 season.

Dr. Heather Morrison says laboratory results confirmed the infection.

She says it's not too late for people to get a flu shot, which protects against three strains of influenza.

As well, she says it's important to prevent the spread of the virus by continuing with hand washing and sneezing into your sleeve.

Typical symptoms of influenza include fever, headache, aches and pains, cough and sore throat.
