Skiers missing at B.C.'s Sun Peaks resort rescued

Three skiers who went missing late Friday in an out-of-bounds area of Sun Peaks Resort near Kamloops, B.C., have been found.

Two of the missing are sisters who were located late Friday night and reunited with their families, a spokesman for Sun Peaks told reporters Saturday morning.

The third, a woman from Washington state who was skiing on her own, was located by helicopter early Saturday morning.

Christopher Nicholson,  a Sun Peaks spokesman, told CBC News  the American was able to retrace her steps and was spotted by a helicopter. She was cold but otherwise in pretty good shape for spending the night on the mountain, he said.

While grateful that all of the women had been found safely, Nicholson said it was worrisome that the skiers ignored ropes and signs at the 4,047-hectare Sun Peaks resort indicating an area was out of bounds.
