Canada's east coast is being hit by a monster snowstorm on Friday with strong winds and plenty of snow coming to the area, report forecasters.
Environment Canada says the worst is yet to come, with another 10 to 20 centimetres of snow expected Friday across Nova Scotia mixed with strong winds and causing whiteout conditions.
"It’s going to be a very light, icy, fluffy snow blowing around quite a bit. That’s why visibility is going to be a huge concern throughout the day on Friday," said CBC meteorologist Kalin Mitchell.
In Halifax, streets are slick from heavy snow that fell overnight and icy temperatures that feel like -25 C with the wind. The storm has also forced city buses to pause service and police to stay off the roads unless responding to an emergency call.
The storm has also causes closures at malls and shops (yes, even liquor stores) in Halifax. The Halifax Stanfield International Airport is reporting a number of delays and cancellations. A high-volume of internet traffic also forced the airport's website to scale back service.
