Mindy Kaling's Elle Cover Is Beautiful In Black And White (PHOTO)

Mindy Kaling Fashion Cover: Is It Offensive?

We at HuffPost Canada Style are huge (huge!) fans of Mindy Kaling so when we saw the new Elle cover featuring the comedienne, we jumped for joy!

"The Mindy Project" star is on one of four special covers in tribute to the magazine's Women in TV issue (the other three covers feature TV stars Amy Poehler, Zooey Deschanel and Allison Williams).

The black-and-white photo shows the former "The Office" star wearing a tailored blazer over a white top with her fingers decked out in diamond-encrusted rings (including a star-shaped stunner that we totally want for Valentine's Day).

With her hair combed to one side of her head and framing her face in soft waves, the 34-year-old does her best "serious model" pout, and she totally pulls it off.

We think it's about time that Mindy has her own fashion magazine cover (Anna Wintour, are you listening?); not only did she write a hilarious and smart book, but she's also the star of a very popular TV show and has a super-cool blog that's devoted to fashion. (Did we mention that there is an awesome website that is dedicated to the clothes on "The Mindy Project"?)

However some people aren't as enthralled with the cover; Fashionista points out that while all the other women get almost full body shots, Mindy (who is a size 8) gets a close-up crop à la Melissa McCarthy.

We agree that it would have been great to see Mindy's gorgeous figure just like the other actresses. So, why did the Elle editors decide to ignore the rest of her fab figure? We don't know, but if we were in charge, we would totally show off Mindy's body in its entirety and deck her out in the craziest spring 2014 fashion trends we could find.

Check out Mindy and the other three amazing women in Elle's February 2014 issue:

We just love her...
