Who would have thought one of the hottest celebrity homes for sale would be found on the outskirts of Ottawa?
The U.S. site TopTenRealEstateDeals.com has put out a list of the top celebrity homes for sale, and the Ottawa-area mansion belonging to country music star Carrie Underwood and her hubby, ex-Ottawa Senator Mike Fisher, came in fifth on the list.
That’s despite the fact the house has been on the market since last spring.
Fisher and Underwood’s home made a list that includes Matt Damon’s Miami Beach estate, Bob Hope’s bizarre “volcano house” in Palm Springs and Sheryl Crow’s sprawling Tennessee horse ranch. (See slideshow below.)
As the Ottawa Citizen notes, with a $1.95 million asking price, Fisher and Underwood’s home is far and away the least expensive house on the list.
“It’s likely the ranking was based on star power rather than monetary value,” the Citizen says.
Ottawa’s real estate market has been a little soft lately, and the Fisher-Underwood house has seen its asking price cut from $2.2 million when it went on sale last spring. But the celebrity couple need not feel bad: plenty of the other houses on the list also had a hard time finding a buyer.
The realtor’s listing says the five-bedroom house sits on an 11-acre plot and features an enclosed porch with fireplace, wine cellar, home theatre, wet bar and a home gym.
According to TopTenRealEstateDeals.com, the couple decided to sell the house when Fisher was traded to the Nashville, where they now live.
