Neil Young Talks About Honour The Treaties Anti-Oilsands Tour

Canadian rocker Neil Young kicks off his Honour the Treaties tour in Toronto today, with all proceeds going toward a legal fight against the expansion of the Athabasca oilsands in northern Alberta.

The first show in the benefit tour kicks off at Massey Hall on Sunday. Other concerts will be held in Winnipeg, Regina and Calgary later this month.

The tour is in support of the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation (ACFN) and its fight against the expansion of Shell Canada's Jackpine mine, approved by regulators last month.

The development currently covers some 7,500 hectares, but is set to grow to 13,000 hectares.

Watch Young as he talks to reporters in Toronto at 1 p.m. ET, ahead of his evening concert, about the environmental impact of oilsands projects.
