Vancouver's Sarah Yu Selling Car For 8 Bitcoin

Vancouver Woman Selling Her Car For Bitcoin

Sarah Yu is selling her car.

The asking price? Eight Bitcoin.

The Vancouver woman announced the sale via Twitter on Monday.

I’m a big Bitcoin advocate and I thought, ‘Why not put it out there and see what comes back?’" Yu told The Vancouver Sun.

The car, a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta, has heated leather seats, a sunroof, and 152,000 kilometres.

Eight Bitcoin (though Yu originally posted it for 10, before rethinking her car's value) is roughly worth $7,500 Canadian, according to Global News.

Vancouver made international headlines back in October when the city launched the world's first Bitcoin ATM. Though a digital currency, Bitcoin is bought with physical money and used to purchase physical objects. Like, say, a car.

While some are still wary, Yu thinks Bitcoin has lasting power.

"I’m in it for the long-term, she said to News1130. "I really believe Bitcoin is the future."
