Why chess is the hot new game at an East Vancouver school

A school in East Vancouver has a unique problem: It is bursting with kids who want to play chess.

Heather MacNeill, a parent who started the lunchtime club at Lord Selkirk Elementary more than three years ago, says she now hopes the school can get more time for the dozens of young kids who want to play.

"We started with about eight or 10 kids who came, and now we have regularly 70 kids in the library on a Wednesday."

Watch the video above to see why MacNeill started the club, what the appeal of chess is, and why the kids have taken to the centuries-old game in droves.
