TORONTO - Design duo Dean and Dan Caten of DSquared2, supermodel Coco Rocha and "Pacific Rim" director Guillermo del Toro are among the notable names expected to attend the Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards.
Billed as the first event of its kind in Canada, the first CAFA gala will feature 10 award categories honouring homegrown talent within the fashion industry.
Comedian Gerry Dee, star of CBC comedy series "Mr. D," will host the event on Feb. 1 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto.
The Toronto-born Catens are being recognized in the outstanding achievement category, alongside Montreal-based designers Denis Gagnon and Marie Saint Pierre and womenswear designers Lida Baday, Wayne Clark and David Dixon.
The twin brothers are also nominated for the international Canadian designer award, which honours those who have achieved success abroad and brought attention to Canadian talent on the world stage. Fellow nominees include Mark Fast, Erdem Moralioglu, Jason Wu and Jeremy Laing.
The Toronto-born, Richmond, B.C.-raised Rocha is among the nominees in the model category, alongside Yasmin Warsame who is also expected to attend the gala. Fellow Canadian catwalkers Linda Evangelista, Shalom Harlow and Daria Werbowy also received nods.
Actress Elisha Cuthbert and "Reign" stars Adelaide Kane and Jonathan Keltz are also among those slated to attend the gala.
