Calgary, Edmonton Home Sales Down On A Month-To-Month Basis

LOOK: What $1 Million Will Buy In Edmonton

Home sales in Calgary and Edmonton saw an increase on a year-over-year basis but saw a decline when compared to the previous month, the Canadian Real Estate Association says.

Canadian home sales also slid lower on a month-to-month basis for the third consecutive time. The national average price was up 10.4 per cent to $389,119.

"Activity has gradually eased back from stronger than expected levels last summer and is now roughly in line with the 10-year monthly average," CREA president Laura Leyser said.

Ann-Marie Lurie, Calgary Real Estate Board's chief economist, said that "in 2014, both sales activity and prices are expected to improve, but not at the same pace recorded in 2013."

Despite a drop in home sales, Calgary and Edmonton's real estate markets have an abundance of pads up for grabs for those in the market for luxury and comfort.
