PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. - The B.C. Coroner’s office has released the name of a man who died in an avalanche last Saturday in eastern B.C.

He is identified as 28-year-old Kym Alvin Avery Wilson of Warburg, a small community near Leduc in central Alberta.

The coroner’s office says Wilson was in a group of five people in the Clemina area about 30 kilometres south of Valemount for a day of snowmobiling when the avalanche struck.

Wilson’s body was found several hours later beneath about one metre of snow.

A rescue team from Parks Canada recovered his body on Sunday after ensuring the area was safe from the risk of further avalanches.

The coroner’s office and the RCMP continue to investigate his death.
