Five people die in New Brunswick from illness associated with influenza

FREDERICTON - The number of people in New Brunswick who have died from illness associated with influenza has climbed.

The Health Department says five people have died after getting the flu so far this season.

It says the predominant flu strain this year is H1N1.

The department says since Aug. 25, 2013, there have been 611 confirmed cases of the flu, and a total of 99 people have required hospitalization, including 24 who had to be admitted to intensive care units.
