NDP, Greens claim record hauls in latest fundraising reports

Orange is the new rich.

That's the takeaway from the first batch of fourth quarter political financing reports to hit the Elections Canada website, which show that despite being all but ignored by their political rivals during the race to the December 31 deadline, the New Democrats managed to pull in a record haul of $3.7 million dollars from a similarly milestone smashing 27, 051 donors.

New Democrats likely won't be the only ones toasting their recent fundraising prowess, however: the Green Party very nearly tripled its last reported results, taking in a cool $1.2 million from 11, 254 contributors, which is more than they managed to pull in during the previous three quarters combined.

The official Q4 returns for the Conservatives and the Liberals have yet to be posted, but will likely show up within a few days, at which point this post will be updated with the rest of the numbers.
