Sochi Gay Rights Song Written By Vancouver's The Fugitives (VIDEO)

WATCH: Vancouver Band Writes Inspiring Gay Rights Song For Sochi

Like many Vancouverites, folk band The Fugitives aren't pleased with Russia's anti-gay laws. So, in true musician fashion, they wrote a song about it.

"New Year's in Sochi," an uplifting tune that tells us "we'll all go to heaven at the end of the day, we'll all go to heaven either way," was launched with a music video Wednesday on YouTube.

Filmed around Vancouver's Kitsilano neighbourhood, the video shows residents holding up signs that tell the story of Dmitry Isakov, one of the first citizens charged under Russia's anti-gay laws. The people hug and kiss, celebrating the freedom they have to love who they want — and showing the support they have for those who can't.

Added bonus? The tune is also pretty darn catchy.
