The Lower Mainland's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says 24-year-old Jimi Sandhu was arrested Friday in connection with the case, and will appear in court in Abbotsford on Monday.
Campbell, a reported associate of the Red Scorpions gang, stumbled into a business with a severe neck wound on Jan. 2. Staff tried to help him and he was transported to hospital by air ambulance, but he ultimately died from the stab wound.
IHIT Supt. Kevin Hackett said both Campbell and Sandhu were previously known to police.
He said the arrest came after close collaboration between the Abbotsford Police Department, IHIT, and B.C.'s gang-focused Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU-BC).
“Today’s announcement is the result of a fast-paced investigation that commenced on the day of Mr. Campbell’s murder and continued around the clock for the past 30 days," Hackett said in a written statement. "Gang related homicide investigations are often difficult to solve. Having CFSEU-BC investigators working so closely with our team was extremely helpful.”
