If love is in the air, you must be on the west coast.
Whether you're looking for love or the perfect romantic vacation, according to a recent ranking by Amazon.ca, the top 20 most romantic cities in Canada (based on romance and relationship book sales, of course) are generally out west.
Edmonton, Kamloops and Saskatoon all made the top 10, while small cities in Ontario helped round out the list. Looking back at last year's results (spoiler alert if you don't want to see number one), some things have changed. Several cities like Niagara Falls and Cambridge, Ont. are new additions, other cities have dropped in their rankings (what happened?), but the one thing that didn't change? No love for any of the Maritimes, east coast provinces and Quebec.
It's possible, however, that this could just mean those areas of Canada have better relationships. As one psychologist's study found in 2011, romance novels might give women (the vast majority of readers for the genre) unrealistic expectations of what a partnership should truly be.
So while this list truly doesn't define how romantic people actually are, if you're looking for reasons to love some of these cities (especially with V-Day coming up), other interesting data from the report found residents of Winnipeg enjoyed regency romance, gothic romance, and historical romance books, while people in North Vancouver bought the most Dean Martin, Barry White, Luther Vandross, Miguel and Michael Bublé CDs.
