Miffed residents in Calgary's Inglewood community are taking to Twitter to fight loud locomotive activity.

People living near the Alyth rail yard complain they haven't gotten a decent night of shut-eye lately, due to noise from trains at the Canadian Pacific facility.

So, they've turned to Twitter, using the hashtag #ShameOnYouCPRail to help get their concerns heard.

Local resident Jack Adamson submitted an ad to the February edition of the Inglewood Community Newsletter, expressing just how fed up residents are with all the noise.

"While the Canadian Transportation Agency (CTS) has ruled against CP Rail to halt all operations between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m., we are still being kept awake," the ad reads.

"Now it's time CP Rail hears us. We need your tweets to help document the hours and tell the world in real time, enough is enough. Include the hashtag in your tweets each time you and your family are kept awake between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m."

β€œI hear it most nights,” Adamson, who lives a few blocks from Alyth Yard, told Metro Calgary.

β€œMy wife, who is more sensitive, hears it almost every night,” he continued, claiming the noise is often so loud it rattles windows.

Ed Greenberg with CP, however, told the Calgary Sun the company has followed the CTA's order to cease train repair and testing work at night, but other operations are not prohibited and are still taking place overnight.

Ward 9 Councillor Gian-Carlo Carra told Global News he will support his constituents and their campaign, adding that "keeping the pressure on is exactly what (they should) do."

Other Calgarians, however, don't agree with the campaign, saying Inglewood residents should be prepared to deal with the disturbance if they choose to live in the area.

But residents fired back saying those sentiments over simplify the issue.

In September, CP rail announced they would relocate their repair and maintenance centre, but a timeline for the move has not been announced.
